Jay-Dee (a/k/a J-Dilla) gets the posthumous treatment yet again with the release of Rebirth of Detroit on 06.12.12.  Yet this one seems to be less-exploitative and should be pretty dope.  Unearthed Dilla beats and dope rappers (mostly) from the ‘D.’  Pretty simple concept.  If this track with Danny Brown is any indication of what’s to come, this shit might work.  Detroit WHAT?!?

One thing is for sure, Anticon emcee ex-Tha Grimm Teachaz Kenny Dennis aka Serengeti, is taking the heat off of Chicago’s favorite whipping boy, Steve Bartman. I agree with him. It is time Steve be excused from causing years of piss-poor baseball on the North Side. Blame Candy Maldonado…Blame Ryan Klesko…Blame Steve Stone. Wait lets put the blame where it belongs Kerry Wood and Carlos Marmol (you won’t hit me, but I might hit you).

Old Soul Entertainment and DJ MetroGnome brought the heat to Naptown on 3.21.12, as Red Bull Music Academy presented producer-extraordinaire Exile (of Emanon) to Club Tru.  After a killer funk set by Lester Johnson (formerly of the Ebony Rhythm Funk Campaign/Ebony Rhythm Band) and his new band, MetroGnome dropped some classic post-golden-era jammies to whip the crowd into a frenzy.  Once Exile took the stage, he gave a glimpse of his MPC skills before passing a mic to Chi-town’s ADaD to tease us with their upcoming collabo.  After ADaD did his thing-thing, Exile took over on some “you cannot fuck with me on the MPC” type-shit.  He reworked D-Train and thrilled us all as he turned Wacko Jacko onto Dub-Step (even Vincent Price had to laugh).  But the highlight was the above closer, shot (poorly) by yours truly.  Where my Golden Eagles at?!?
